Are my PDF files really not uploaded anywhere?
Correct. PDFerret is a fully client-side application. Your files are read by JavaScript directly in your browser and processed on your device's memory. No copy of your document ever reaches our servers. You can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads and the tools keep working.
Is PDFerret free? Are there file size or usage limits?
PDFerret is completely free. Because processing happens on your own device, we have no server costs per file, so there are no file size limits, no daily quotas, and no watermarks. The practical limit is your device's memory: very large PDFs (thousands of pages) may be slow but still work.

Does it work offline and on mobile?
Yes. After the page has loaded, the tools need no internet connection, and the layout is fully responsive, so they work on phones and tablets. For heavy jobs like compressing very large PDFs, a desktop browser with more memory is recommended.
