PDFerret

PDFerret is a set of free PDF tools that run entirely in your browser. Technically, the site uses the open-source pdf-lib and pdf.js libraries to read and write PDFs directly on your device. No uploads, no server processing, no storage — which is also why there are no file size limits, no daily quotas, and no watermarks.

Why a ferret? In English, to ferret out means to search persistently until you find what is hidden — and ferrets are famous for exactly that. They also have a habit that fits us perfectly: whatever treasure a ferret finds, it drags back into its burrow for safekeeping. That is our whole idea of privacy. The tools dig through every page of your PDF, but the file itself stays in your burrow — your device — the entire time.

You can verify it: open your browser's developer tools, watch the network tab, and process a file. No upload request appears, and after the page loads you can even go offline and keep working. We are honest about limits, too: merging does not carry over bookmarks and internal links, and OCR quality depends on the on-device models.

The site is maintained by an independent developer in Taiwan, supported by minimal advertising. If you find it useful, sharing the tool pages helps a lot.
