How to merge PDF files (without uploading them)

2026-08-31

Merging PDF files means combining two or more documents into a single PDF so they read as one continuous file. People do it to bundle contracts, assemble scanned chapters, or attach one tidy file instead of five attachments to an email.

Step 1: open the Merge tool and drop your files

Go to the Merge PDF tool and drag your files into the drop area, or click to browse. You can add as many PDFs as you like; there is no server-side limit because nothing is uploaded. Your files are read directly by your browser.

Step 2: put the pages in the right order

Each file shows up as a card. Use the up and down arrows to reorder them. The file at the top of the list becomes pages 1 through N of the final document. If you need a page from the middle of one file to appear earlier, split that file first and merge the parts.

Step 3: merge and download

Click Merge. The tool copies the original pages into a new PDF container with no re-compression or re-encoding, so text stays selectable and images keep their full resolution. When it finishes, download the merged file. Closing the tab wipes every trace from memory.

Why local merging matters

Most free online mergers upload your documents to a server, process them there, and hope you trust their deletion policy. For NDAs, invoices, medical records or legal filings, that is a real risk. Browser-side merging with PDFerret removes the question entirely: the file physically cannot leave your device.
